Darûn is a dwarven Iron-Hills Jack of Many Trades: a miner, smelter and smith, a carpenter and mason, a decent scribe and musician, not a bad shot with a crossbow and good with a weapon in his hand, an all around dwarf of many talents.

Bárathor is man of Gondor and a poet, stroyteller and musician/songwriter. In short, he is a "bard" in the old medieval sense.
