History and information on actual languages of middle earth and the sim.

All races can speak the Common Tongue, a debased and pidginized form of Numenorean, which is rendered on our Sim by the Standard American English dialect. If nobles wish to sound less common, they may use the Received Pronunciation dialect of British English to render royal Numenorean. Similarly rendering debased Common dialects can be done with any non-standard English dialect.

Players of all ethnicities are welcome and encouraged to use a built-in translator in their SL viewer of choice to translate their language into English and back again. Posting in a non-English language is perfectly acceptable, provided that it is followed immediately by an English translation. It is the non-English speaker's responsibility to provide English translation of his or her posts and not the responsibility of the readers to translate it. For information on how to set up an AI translator on your viewer, consult the online documentation for your viewer.

Besides the Common Tongue, different races also have their own ancestral languages.
